Monday 12/15/2019: Chilly start to week in Minneapolis, then warming

Our average high temperature in Minneapolis is down to 27° – and we’ll eventually climb up near that number again… but for now we are stuck in the teens to near 20 degrees, about 7-10 degrees below average.

7-day forecast for Minneapolis/St. Paul:

Looking ahead, we see warming start actually overnight Wednesday to Thursday morning. We’ll actually drop closer to zero on Wednesday evening, and then as winds shift we’ll climb back to about 8 degrees by 6 a.m.

Here’s a look at a meteogram that shows this interesting phenomenon, as warm air starts to flow in:

Thursday at 00 UTC is actually 6 p.m. Minneapolis-time, and 12 UTC is 6 a.m. Minneapolis-time – you can see a rise that bumps us up about 8 degrees forecasted, and that coincides with a wind shift from northerly, colder, winds, to more of a warmer southerly wind.

That wind shift will keep our temps at least near average through the weekend, as things really quiet down for us. As of now there’s not a measurable snow chance that seems like a sure thing, so stay tuned!
